Christiaan Coolen

Junior Financial Planner

Growing up I lived all around the world, from the US to Egypt and Israel. I came to Bristol for University and haven’t left. I started my career as a graduate with Santander retail banking, working in branch. I have since held many other roles including Mortgage and Protection Adviser. Having worked in financial services for 11 years’ now, I’m excited to be part of the Ovation team.

As a financial planner I aim to help clients achieve their goals in every way I can. I love customer service and have an innate desire to help – which is why I was drawn to Ovation. Their focus on individuals, and wellbeing being a priority fits perfectly with my vision.

I am a member of “Next Gen Planners”, a community for financial planning professionals which aims to continue to develop the profession ensuring that it is client focused. I’m also co-chair of a committee within the Bristol Chartered Insurance Institute focusing on new entrants into the profession.

Outside work

Outside of work I’m a keen supporter of Bristol Bears rugby. Having picked up too many injuries I no longer play rugby myself and instead I am playing more golf.

For a new challenge, and as a massive foodie I needed something for balance, I signed up for a sprint triathlon. Unfortunately this was cancelled due to the pandemic lockdowns, but I look forward to finding a future sporting challenge.
